Solar Energy Desalination System
With the gradual tension of water source and the improvement of sea water
desalination technology, sea water desalination has already been the first water source
of domestic water for island residents as well as be an important supplementary water
source for coastal cities.
Sea water desalination, as the supplementary measure for present water source,
greatly eases the water shortage in some areas. Especially in Middle East and many
other islands, water desalination has been the basic water source.
At present, the main methods for seawater desalination are as follows: MSF, SWRO,
VC, EDR, MED, etc. Among them, MSF, SWRO and MED, with the common features
of consuming fuel or electric energy consumption, have been extensively applied.
Solar energy, a clean and non-polluted regenerated energy sources with bright
exploitation future, is considered to be a new type of energy sources in the 21st
century. Sea water desalination from solar energy not only saves energy but also
meets the requirement of environmental protection.
